Ingredients
  

Meringue Base

  • 4 egg whites room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 225°F (110°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  • Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form and mixture is glossy.
  • Beat in vanilla extract. Gently fold in mini chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the meringue mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 1½ hours. Turn off oven and let cookies sit inside for 30 minutes to dry out.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container. Avoid making meringues on humid days for best results.
